Music magazines, genre and representation


Most music magazines are predominantly male targeted. This is backed up by the following percentages of male readers for magazines:
NME - 65%
Classic Rock - 93%
Metal Hammer - 66%
Uncut - 96%
Kerrang! - 60%
Mixmag - 72%

Here its shown that not one of these magazines has at least an equal ratio of male to female readers. This is because most magazines are deliberatly aimed at a male audience. This is done with the use of masculine colour schemes and very dominant alpha males from bands. Producers
